First Energy Automation System for Wind Farm
Operations

Serck Controls Ltd won the contract for E.ON UK Renewables
and this has positioned the company as one of the first
energy automation companies to embark on a consolidation
of the E.ON wind farm operations with a centralised
control and monitoring system.
Early in 2005, Serck Controls landed the contract with
E.ON UK Renewables after a competitive bidding phase
to supply the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
(SCADA) solution.
Serck Controls was contracted to design, manufacture
and install a central control system to be located at
E.ON's Rheidol Power Station in Wales with a Hot Standby
system at their HQ in Coventry.
Information from the 20 E.ON UK Renewables remote wind
farm sites in the UK are to be transferred to the control
centre to aid operational decision making.
Jason Scagell, E.ON UK Renewables Director, states:

This consolidated and integrated solution aims to help
E.ON to optimise their wind farm operations and establish
a link from the operating assets into the business systems.
The scope of this project demonstrates Serck Controls

solutions in the renewables market. The E.ON project

automation solution, SCX6 that has also been re-badged
as a shrink-wrapped solution, ClearSCADA.
